Permit data to be retained as test data:

If this checkbox is left ticked, the scores file and the parameter values will be retained as test data against which Pivotal Partners Limited may tune its algorithm. In this event, the data will not be transferred to any third parties, nor will it be published, except (possibly) in the form of aggregate statistics which exclude any identifiable results.

The rate at which the significance of match results is discounted:

A discounting factor of 0 (no discounting) means that a four-year-old match is as relevant to a player ratings as a match played last week.

Theoretically the discounting factor can take values between 0.0 and 1.0. In practice, it should probably not exceed 0.5.

Minimum number of "discounted" matches:
(Mandatory)

The number of discounted matches a player must play in order to establish a rating. If set at 0.0 any match result will establish a rating. For credibility, this parameter should probably be set to at least 2.0. Higher vales might be used to encourage more match playing.

Maximum match "age":
(Mandatory)

Older matches played are rejected and a warning issued. A value of zero means that no matches will be disqualified on grounds of age. (Although the discounting factor may reduce their importance.)

Score objective for the match(or game):
(Mandatory)

Best of 5 implies a value of 3.

First to 6, to 9, to 15, or to 21 imply values of 6, 9, 15 or 21.

The requirement to win by two clear points is treated specially.

A value of 0 means the maximum score is unlimited and that the match's duration is (probably) limited by time.

Pivotal Partners Limited tries to ensure that nothing unsuitable or legally-contestable is uploaded to its web site:

• Nothing should be uploaded that might be considered the copyright of a third party unless permission has been obtained or the data concerned is already in the public domain.
• Uploaded data should be formatted in accordance with the description given here. Files that are rejected by yardstik.exe are immediately deleted.
• The original filename is not retained on upload, and the file cannot be accessed via the web site once it has been processed.
